Ph. D. Agronomy, Iowa State University (1962); Rockefeller Foundation Fellow Associate of IARI New Delhi, Soil Science (1952) B.Sc. Agra University (1950) Gwalior. From 1993 – to date: Adjunct Professor and Director of International Training Program, Natural Resources Department, University of Maryland. Have been teaching a core course: NRSC 100 “International Crop Production - issues and challenges of the 21st century.” As Director of the International Training Program, have conducted many training activities. For details please visit here. Worked as consultant at the World Bank, IFAD, and FAO. Currently am visiting professor at various Agricultural Universities in India. Have established collaboration between university of Maryland and Indian agricultural universities. 1974-1992: Senior Agriculturist at the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC. Identified, prepared, appraised and supervised, monitored and evaluated Agricultural Research and Development projects in some 30 countries in Africa and Asia region. 1967-1973: Soil Fertility Expert with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations. Worked in Afghanistan and Rome. 1952-1967: Professor, Head of the Department, latter Associate Dean and Joint Director of Research at the Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University at Jabalpur (M.P.); Worked as a member of the technical advisory committee of ICAR, New Delhi and was actively involved in designing and implementing All India Agronomic Trials throughout India. Was actively involved with the very first Technical cooperation Mission (TCM) of USAID. Instituted Gangu Tamboli Scholarship for $500 to student with interest and contribution to international agricultural work. About 18 students received this award. Authored A book "Revitalizing Higher Agricultural Education in India - Journey towards Excellence" P.M. Tamboli and YL Nene, published by Asian Agri-History Foundation, Hyderabad, in 2011. Affiliations-Awards: Elected member of Iowa State University Chapter of Society of the Sigma Xi; Teaching Award of Merit from the Honor Society of Agriculture of Gamma Sigma Delta; Honored member of Baltimore Who's who; Chief Advisor Asian Agri - History Foundation (www.agri-history.org).
